Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cherry puree made from fresh or frozen cherries
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chopped cherries for added texture
- For the Vanilla Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions:
Grease a donut pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius
Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl
Mix the cherry puree, buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl
Mixing until just combined, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients
Add the chopped cherries and fold
Pour the batter into each roughly two-thirds full mold in the donut pan that has been greased
A toothpick inserted into a donut should come out clean after baking for 12 to 15 minutes
After letting the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes, move them to a wire rack to finish cooling
Blend the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until a smooth consistency is achieved for the Vanilla Glaze
Reposition the donuts on the wire rack after dipping each one in the glaze and letting any excess drip off
Add your preferred sprinkles to the top of the donuts while the glaze is still wet for a colorful and entertaining finish
Before savoring your delicious baked cherry donuts, let the glaze set for approximately fifteen minutes!
